HOW do you access the Internet? cont. 5

Browser

Once you have the equipment and the access, you need a “browser.”

Browsers are types of software that allow you to actually see the internet on your computer and navigate or move around online.
Browsers read the coded pages from the Internet and interpret the coding into the text and graphics you see on your screen. Most web documents are coded using hypertext mark-up language (html).
Browser software is often included when signing up with an ISP which you will then load onto your computer.
You can even download other browsers or more current versions of your browser from the Internet. (But you must first have a browser in order to do so!)

Popular browsers include:

Firefox
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Safari
