Airlines
Baggage Handlers
Load and unload the baggage from the airplane. Get the baggage from one plane to another for connecting flights.
Reservationists
Take incoming calls regarding reservation information for a specific airline.
Marketing
In charge of advertising. May do press releases, speaking engagements, print and media advertising, public relations, and special promotions.
Gate Agent
Works at the airport at the point of boarding the airplane. Sees that all passengers are boarded safely. Handles seat assignments, waitlists and upgrading passengers from coach to business or first class.
Ticket Counter
Works at the airport usually near the point of entrance. Similar to a Gate Agent. Checks baggage.
Meet and Assist Personnel
Is at the airplane (or is called to the ticket counter) to assist passengers. May drive a cart to assist with luggage, elderly travelers, unaccompanied minors, and travelers with disabilities.
Pilot
Responsible for flying the airplane safely.
Flight Attendant
Takes care of travelers while on board the airplane. Sees to safety and comfort issues.
Cleaner
Cleans the airplane after passengers have left.
Mechanic
Ensures that the airplane is in sound, safe mechanical order and is in compliance with government regulations.
Air Traffic Controller
Works for the government to ensure safe flying. Assists pilots in landings and take offs as well as safely avoiding other aircraft.
Security
Checks baggage and carry-on luggage of travelers. May be stationed at a security check point to check for weapons or other contraband.
Gift Shop
Works retail at the airport shops.
Food Services
At airport - Works at the restaurants and fast food places at the airport. For food on airplanes - Works for the catering company providing meals for the airline. May load and unload meals from airplanes.
