What Are Amtrak's Policies And Procedures? ~ continued 13

Tickets

Amtrak can issue its own tickets, and any Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) appointed agency can issue Amtrak tickets. Amtrak is a participating carrier of ARC. Since 2012, all Amtrak train routes are available for eTicketing and several Thruway bus routes are as well. eTicketing simplifies and enhances the travel experience - there is no waiting in ticket lines and no worry if a ticket is long; just print another one. Tickets can also be accessed on smartphones and scanned when boarding. View this Amtrak video about the benefits of eTicketing.

Refunds/Cancellations

Refunds can be processed through the booking agency or through Amtrak. Refunds of partially used special fare or excursion fare tickets may be limited. Amtrak disclaims liability for lost, stolen or destroyed paper tickets. Amtrak will refund the value of unused tickets, with the following exceptions:

Sleeping Accommodations must be canceled at least fifteen or more days prior to departure or only a credit for future travel will be issued.
First Class on Acela trains and Business Class seats on all other trains must be canceled at least 24 hour before departure or a refund fee applies.

Amtrak Vacations

Amtrak offers numerous vacation packages which can include hotel accommodations; sightseeing; city by city touring; combination rail, air, and sail tours; escorted national park tours; etc.

Details of these packages are found online on Amtrak's website.
