The principal resources for schedules and fares for Amtrak are GDSs and Amtrak's website; for VIA, the GDSs and Internet; for Eurail and Britrail, see their websites or the Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable.
Amtrak serves the U.S. with a variety of equipment. The classes of service for day (seating) cars and Sleeper cars include Coach, Business and First Class. A variety of dining and lounge cars provide food service. Food and Beverage services range from fine dining in separate, sit-down dining cars to carry out foods. Amtrak fares are determined by length of trip, class of service and discounts offered. Accommodation (sleeper) charges are added to the base transportation fare.
VIA serves Canada with Business Class and Economy Class coaches. Business Class includes three-course meals at your seat with complimentary drinks. Economy meal service provides snacks and drinks. Sleeper Accommodations include berths, single, double or triple bedrooms in Sleeper and Sleeper Plus Class. VIA Rail's fare structure includes discounts for seniors, groups, children and youths.
Booking and ticketing rail travel can be accomplished through your GDS and/or by toll-free numbers or the Internet.
